MUUSAN Action Teams in 2024
Action Teams Update
MUUSAN’s five action teams are up and running. Below is an update with links to learn more. Please contact Reba (admin@muusan.org) if any of the priorities listed in these links is something you would like more information about. She will pass your name to the appropriate MUUSAN action team chair.
Each action team has its own meeting schedule (contact admin@muusan.org). You are welcome to attend any action team meeting, and there is no need to rsvp ahead of time. The MUUSAN Zoom Room will be the Zoom link for all meetings (also found at tinyurl.com/MUUSANZoomRoom).
Democracy Action Team (DAT), Co-chairs Betsy Williams & John Howard
The League of Women Voters Maine is the major MUUSAN partner for this team.
Climate Action Team, Chair Jill Linzee
The Environmental Priorities Coalition is a major MUUSAN partner for this team. The EPC has recently established their priorities for 2024.
Gun Safety Team, Co-Chairs Lynn Ellis and Deborah Crump
The Maine Gun Safety Coalition is the major MUUSAN partner for this team.
Their priorities cover four main safety concerns, which they expect to be folded into two bills in the coming weeks: assault weapons ban, red flag law, 72-hour waiting period to buy a gun, background checks on all gun sales.
Housing/Homelessness Team, Co-Chairs Naneen Chace-Ortiz and Jessica Glant
This team is actively recruiting members and reviewing their process for selecting priority bills. Please join them if you are interested in this topic!
Wabanaki Sovereignty Action Team (WSAT), Chair Meret Bainbridge
The Wabanaki Alliance is the major MUUSAN partner for this team.
